Night Snorkel with Manta’s on Big Island
What an amazing encounter with Manta Rays at Kona Coast on Big Island, Hawaii. The boat tour started at 5pm and just before sunset we were at the spot where at night time often Manta Rays go for feeding. Manta Rays are very graceful animals hunting plankton all day and night.
And as plankton likes light we were soon in the water holding onto a surf board with light bulbs attracting plankton which as you can imagine attracted the Manta Rays. And over years the Manta’s have figured out that they can eat the most plankton if they do a roll. Very amazing to see them so close.
Pu’u’ula’ula Mountain Sunrise in Maui
Wow what a great spectacle on Pu’u’ula’ula Mountain in Haleakala National Park. After catching the sunset the evening before and sleeping at the summit (Thanks to my couchsurfer friend Jen I had enough blankets for the night) at
5:30am and the nightly sky awakes with hints of red on the horizon. Watching this at 10.000 ft and above the clouds awesome! Check out some pictures and the timelapse video from my trip to the top of Maui.

Waikiki Sunset
Waikiki was my first stop in Hawaii and I had the opportunity to watch some sunsets. Beside that I organized my trip to the other islands (Maui, Big Island and Kauai), stocked up my equipment, went running, snorkeling and enjoyed some amazing food but this is for another blog article.
Bronte2Bondi run
This famous coastal walk was many times my running track for the last couple of weeks here in Sydney.
Surf Australia
Surfing is an amazing sport for me and so in the past weeks I spend some days surfing on the beach. Most of the time I was surfing in the morning, which was amazing. Wake up just before sunrise and then see how the day starts in the city and on the beach. One day I arrived at 6:20am at Bondi Beach and the whole beach was already packed with people: Swimmers, Runners, Surfers, Exercise Groups, Boxing Groups, Walkers, Kayakers. It was amazing to see how many people are enjoying this amazing beach life and I had the honor to be part of it. Check out the video and support me …
Sydney City “Runlapse”
As you might know, I love running and especially in great scenery and today I got the chance to do this. Right after sunrise I went to the Hyde Park in Sydney, Australia and started my run which included:Β Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair, Sydney Opera House, Circular Quay, Harbour Bridge, Kirribilli, Milsons Point (including a boat trip back to Circular Quay) and the Royal Botanic Garden.
Alishan National Park
From Taichung, Taiwan I went on a 3 day trip to Alishan National Park. Great walks in the park and the first impression what altitude of more than 2000m feels like. At least after 100 steps from my hotel to city center I was quite out of breath. But maybe it is just time to get more fit π
Check out my first timelapse video (that’s the reason why there is still an Blog post from Taiwan although I’m already in Australia) with a forest walk in the National Park and of course some pictures impressions
- Tee plantages in the higher altitudes on the way to Alishan

Surf Taiwan
Or more precise: Surf in Daxi, Taiwan at Honeymoon Bay
After Finland and Hong Kong now the third try to do some real surfing. This time on the north east coast of Taiwan in the little village of Daxi. 1,5h trip from Taipei by train (train fee: 2,5β¬) I arrived and went to the Spider Surf Club and met Quake my surf couch for the next 2 days.
We immediately scheduled in a 2 hour private surf lesson for the afternoon. And yes this was a very demanding 2 hours for me. First one hour and 30min some practicing on the floor and his specially designed surf board. Then already being quite exhausted another 30min in the water.
One day later another 2 hour lesson this time at an other beach with smaller waves but better for me as a beginner and I caught some nice waves, yeah π
- Temple in Daxi
- Ok they waves are there at Honeymoon Bay π
- First some practice on the very individual surf board
- … and stand up
- Quake my surf coach in Taiwan
- Here we go with my beginner surf board π
